You might even be able to borrow the Cult of Esctasy take on their True Magick in devleoping the paths you speak of. I especially like the Caitiff idea: eventually, some crafty Caitiff is going to be tired of being picked on and bring a bit of fear to its enemies. And I can see some old timey Tremere or even Malk taking Auspex apart and developing pathways. Why would vampires suddenly stop trying to develop new and greater powers (we pathetic mortals don't stop building better cars). Well, I do have to agree, that Auspex as presented does seem to line up fairly well with the over theme of "Vampire see real good." But the disaparty of power levels does seem suspect.Īs for your branching, I think that's genius. >shrugs<Īh, so we are talking more power balance with other similar powers, rather than than the taxonomy of the powers themselves. I really have no clue where you are coming from with your perspective, save that the metaphysical concept of *affinitive* magic/mysticism (like that expressed in Mage) would, of course, be much more flexible/have far greater permutations, but vampires/the undead don't historically (meaning, in this context, referencing "real-world" metaphysical thought) have that sort of ability, being undead shadows of truly mystical beings/entities. That shit is about as tight as one could expect from a five-point progression scale. Level One is Heightened (Physical) Senses, with a touch/dash of "other-awareness" Level Two includes perceiving auras and gaining general insight into others (including recognizing - if not specifically analyzing - when magical forces are at work on a person/object/place) Level Three deepens the previous factors by allowing a partly-physical, partly-mystical analysis of an object or (with time) location, noting echoes of psychic impressions left by others Level Four is perceptive/communicative telepathy, including (with sufficient successes) probing and Level Five allows for one's psychic awareness/consciousness to extend beyond one's physical body to project outwards (via Willpower) into the Penumbra or (if the vampire is brave/foolish enough) into aspects of the High (Astral) Realms.

Psychometry, Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Astral Projection, Telepathy, Communing with Spirits, Empathic Healing, DivinationNo - Auspex makes perfect metaphysical sense, as presented. Does anyone else feel like Auspex progression is wrong? That Astral projection should not be a 5 pt discipline power, that telepathy should be perhaps level 3 instead? That the theme is all over the place? That level 1 should simply be a passive benefit of progressing through the discipline rather than a level one power with a negative penalty? I could see Auspex being more like Valeran with branches, or paths for Psychic Numina:
